Wireshark is the world's foremost network protocol analyzer. It lets you see what's happening on your network at a microscopic level. It is the de facto (and often de jure) standard across many industries and educational institutions.
Download the stable release for Windows from: http://www.wireshark.org/
Setup:
| 1. | Install Wireshark (including WinPcap) with administrator permissions. |
| 2. | Open Wireshark, always run as an administrator e.g. Right-click and choose "Run as administrator" |
| 3. | Select "Interface List" and select the required network type to be monitored e.g. LAN or wireless |
| 4. | From the Windows Notification Area (bottom right-hand corner of the screen) select the Mail Manager icon  and choose "Show Dashboard..." |
| 5. | Select Diagnostics > Enable verbose reporting mode |
Start Monitoring:
| 7. | Select "Start" (monitoring will commence) |
| 9. | Soon after the issue has occurred stop monitoring i.e. the red button on the toolbar.
Please make a note of the time, to the second, as per the PC’s clock when you saw the issue. |
Send Wireshark logs:
| 10. | From the menu select File > Save As, attach to the email below (item 13) for analysis. |
Compose diagnostics report email:
| 11. | Exit and restart Outlook - Outlook will now run in normal mode |
| 12. | From the Windows Notification Area (bottom right-hand corner of the screen) select the Mail Manager icon and choose "Show Dashboard..." |
| 13. | Select Diagnostics > Compose diagnostics report email... this will automatically create a new email containing diagnostics information |
